Eugene Andrew Daniels

October 24, 1923 - January 22, 2018

Eugene Andrew Daniels

Eugene Andrew Daniels joined God’s Kingdom on January 22, 2018. Gene was the middle child born to Sarah and John Daniels. He was born October 24, 1923, in Sterling, NE.

He is survived by sisters Dorothy Arnold and Shirley (Marlin) Callaway. Gene had two children, Constance (Douglas) Otoupalile of Lincoln and Scott (Constance) Daniels of Richmond, VA; Grandchildren, Kyle Lacy of LaVista, Kathryn (Stephen) Sizemore of Omaha, Melissa Daniels and Drew (Paige) Daniels all of Richmond, VA; great-grandsons, Johnathan Eugene Sizemore of Omaha and Nash Conrad Daniels of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis.

Gene grew up on a farm in Sterling. He married Phyllis in November of 1946. He helped run the post office in St. Mary’s. He taught at a country school by Sterling. He got his degree from the University of Nebraska in Horticulture and Vocational education. He taught high school, was a leader in FFA (Future Farmers of America). He sold life insurance. He retired after 25 years in Soil Conservation.

During this time our dad’s faithfulness and love never wavered from doing the Lord’s work. He was a counselor for the Billy Graham Crusade in Omaha in 1964. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church (Lincoln). He also started a church in Rushville. Dad and mom had devotions with Connie and Scott and then with each other every day. Dad was compassionate about tithing or helping missionaries that came to speak at church. Dad had a great job driving patients to their oncologist appointments. He said it was a great way to witness.

Eugene has worn many hats: farmer, Navy, teacher, insurance salesman, soil conservationist, a cook at the state fair, grant driver for oncologists office, cook for Dema’s (macaroni salads), demo for Super Saver, and WWII speaker. Everything was a challenge to him. He is enjoying his new walk with mom in God’s Kingdom. Bye until later dad.

Funeral service, Saturday, February 17, 11:00 a.m., Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Family to greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials to the Billy Graham Ministries.
