Eileen Corcoran, age 96, Lincoln passed away on December 15, 2018. Eileen was born on June 13, 1922 in Maddock, North Dakota to Herbert and Minnie (Hanson) Baeverstad. Eileen enjoyed crossword puzzles, bridge, golf, traveling and researching the family genealogy.
Eileen married Robert Corcoran in 1946. Eileen taught school in many towns over the years as they moved around for Bob’s job, Grand Forks, ND, Williston, ND, Hot Springs, SD, Huron, SD and finally here in Lincoln.
After the family moved to Lincoln, Eileen attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education in 1964. When Pound Junior High opened in 1963, Eileen was hired to teach as a Vocal Music and Social Studies teacher. She retired from Pound Junior High in 1976.
Eileen enjoyed raising her two daughters. She was an active PTA member and also a Camp Fire Leader. Eileen sang in different Lutheran church choirs over the years was a youth choir director and a soloist. Eileen was an active member at both St. Andrews Lutheran Church and Southwood Lutheran Church here in Lincoln.
Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn (Keith) Hovermale, Marjorie (Jim) Wiechert, four grandchildren, a great grandson, her sister, Marjorie and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, her brother, Harold.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd., Lincoln.
