Darlene S. Alles

March 11, 1923 - December 15, 2017

Darlene S. Alles

Darlene Schleiger Alles was born March 11, 1923, to George and Delia (Erickson) Morrissey on a farm in Davey, NE. She was their 4th born child. She lived a short time in Denver at the age of 19, where she worked in a defense plant. Darlene married George Schleiger Jr. in March 1946. To this marriage 4 sons were born, George Michael (Mike), Patrick James, Steven Alan, and Randy Brock. George and Darlene raised their sons on S 45th Street in Lincoln. George passed away on March 11, 1984. Their union lasted 38 years.

In March 1987, Darlene married Reuben Alles in Las Vegas. They shared just short of 30 years together. They, I think we could all agree, enjoyed each other and their life together. We were very grateful for the times we spent with the two of them. We cherish many memories built from that union! Reuben was a wonderful part of our family and always treated Darlene like a queen!

Darlene had various jobs in her life which included, babysitting, Elgin, which by the way is where she first met Reuben in her early years when both still had young families. She also worked for Hy-Gain Electronics and Control Data. Darlene enjoyed her many flowerbeds at her home on 45th Street. Throughout her life she also enjoyed dancing, especially with Reuben, travelling and family gatherings. She had a sense of humor that would make us giggle now and then, even when she wasn’t up to par. Randy and our kids can recall Randy trying to find something in her home and she said,”Hey you! Get out of my drawers!” to Randy and then chuckled. She always took pride in her looks, especially her hair. She also always loved her birthday and was constantly scolding “no party”, but she was thinking the bigger the party the we could pull off the better. Her birthday was important to her and celebrating would always bring a smile to her and Reuben’s faces as we always celebrated their anniversary as well.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Willard (LaVerna) Morrissey, Melvin (Jenny) Morrissey, Richard Morrissey; sisters Ethel (Stub) Piersol, Pat (Arlo) Yost, husbands; George Schleigler Jr., Reuben Alles and sons, Mike, Steve, and infant son Patrick.

She is survived by her son, Randy (Tanya) Schleiger, Kearney, NE, daughter in law; Laurie Schleiger of Lincoln, NE, special friend of our family, Susan Armstrong of Lincoln, NE, sister in law, Shirley Morrissey of Brooksville, ME, step children, Doug (Brenda) Alles and Pat (Steve) Frederick all of Lincoln, NE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) Huntman, Austin, TX; Ben Schleiger of Lincoln, NE; Kelly (Chris) Siepker of Athens, GA, Marissa (Jared) Kruse, Natalya, Deena and Brock Schleiger of Kearney, NE; Great Granddaughters Emily and Lauren Hunteman of Austin, TX, Sloane Presley Siepker of Athens, GA and Alla B Su Kruse of Kearney, NE;, and great grandson, Ethan Hunteman of Austin, TX. She also has 4 step grandchildren, 13 step step great-grandchildren, and 1 step great great grandchild and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thanks to Darlene’s nephew and his wife, Don and Sandra Piersol, for their Sunday visits and kind care of Darlene! Memorials to First United Methodist Church, Kearney, NE.

A funeral service will be held, Tuesday (12-19-17) 2 p.m., Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
