Bernard E. “Bernie” Newton, 88, Lincoln passed away September 29, 2018. Born October 1, 1929 in Hawk Springs, WY to Leroy David and Henrietta Fredricka (Busskohl) Newton. U. S. Army Veteran. Ret. Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Inspector for Tenneco Natural Gas Company. Also, served as a deputy for the Sheriff’s Dept. and Police Dept. in Shelley, MN and Ada, MN and National EMT.

Member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW Honor Guard, American Legion, Democratic Farmers Labor, and served as a delegate for the Democratic Party in 1968.

Family members include his wife Eileen; daughters Sheila (Dan) Smack and Angela Green; sons Bart and Brent Newton; grandchildren Christine Baack, McKenzie and Chloe Newton; great-grandchildren Amanda and Dylan Green, Jaxson Baack; sister June Hansen; brothers Bob (Carol) Newton and Jerry (Brenda) Newton. Preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Rosary: 7:00 p.m. Thursday (10-4-18) St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Friday (10-5-18) St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street with Fr. Lyle Johnson officiating.

Memorials to Knights of Columbus or DAV.

No visitation/Cremation.
